Life exists inside the grey area. I don't believe in right or wrong. Everything is contextual. People (who aren't insane) agree that murder is a bad thing to do. We also all agree that self-defense can be necessary. If your self-defense leads to the death of a person who attacked you for no reason, I would never hold that against you or call you a murderer. In this instance, killing someone falls within a grey area. Now, there are certainly people who would freak out and never be able to look at you the same. I don't respect that type of person: the kind who views everything as black or white.
Everything is because something was. Things change, time moves, stuff means shit. That kind of moralistic whining only causes harm. The world is complicated, people are messy, and your life isn't just driving from point A to point B. Most of the time you're not going to have all of the information. Reserving judgement is one of the most powerful tools that we have. It will be incredibly helpful for not making you look or feel like a judgemental asshole, and this way, you'll be wrong a lot less frequently. That horrible feeling of being proven wrong, and having to admit that you weren't the smartest boy who ever lived, keeps so many people from growing. That's why we have grown adults who view the world so rigidly.
Nothing is straightforward, don't ever let someone who is uncomplicated stop you from truly seeing things for what they are.
